The inauguration date for 2020 edition of the Cannes International Film Festival has been announced.

The inauguration date for 2020 edition of the Cannes International Film Festival has been announced.  

According to Variety online magazine, the Cannes Film Festival  announces date for the 73rd edition of the event in 2020, indicatimg May 12 as the inauguration date for the internationally honored festival. Based on the schedule it continues until May 21.

The most recent edition of the Cannes Film Festival wrapped May 24, 2019. The jury, which was presided over by Oscar-winning director Alejandro Inarritu, awarded the Palme d’Or to veteran South Korean helmer Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite,” the tale of two Korean families on opposite ends of the social scale. The movie has so far been released in South Korea and France, where it’s been highly successful, grossing more than $51 million and $2.8 million, respectively.

The Cannes International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries from all around the world. Founded in 1946, the invitation-only festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
